Breast Lift

All women, especially those with larger breasts, will eventually develop skin laxity of the breasts. This results in a drooping appearance and wrinkling of the skin, which can make patients feel uncomfortable with the appearance of their breasts. For many women, this becomes more apparent after having children or losing significant amounts of weight. If you have noticed that your breasts have lost their perky shape, our Kennesaw breast lift surgeons can perform the mastopexy procedure to produce a more youthful appearance.

Breast Lift Procedure

We ask that you avoid consuming food and drinks after midnight, wear loose clothing, and avoid wearing jewelry or make-up the day of your surgery. The breast lift procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, usually under general anesthesia. Depending on the extent of treatment that is needed, you can expect to spend two to fours hours in surgery. The recovery following this surgery is minimal and many patients will feel close to normal several days after surgery.

Breast Lift Techniques

The amount of breast laxity that you have developed and the position of the nipple will determine which breast lift technique is performed during your breast lift surgery.

Tech-
nique
Crescent Dough-

Lolli-

Anchor
Incision Location: The upper part of the nipple Around the entire nipple Around the entire nipple, and vertically down to the crease of the breast Runs vertically from the nipple to the crease of the breast, and along the crease of the breast, resembling an anchor
Degree of skin laxity: Mild to moderate Mild to moderate Moderate Severe
Ideal for women with: Subtle droop or those that are also getting implants Lower nipple position, large areolas, or those receiving a breast implant Moderate sagging with a moderate amount of excess skin Significant sagging and drooping nipples

Our surgeons may also recommend that you undergo breast augmentation surgery in combination with your breast lift. The placement of breast implants offer the best results in patients that have experienced deflation of the breasts in addition to drooping, who want to achieve increased fullness in the upper portion of their breast as well as a more youthful nipple position.

Breast Lift Recovery

After surgery, a family member or friend should be available to drive you home. Our surgeons recommend that you spend the next several days resting and recuperating; you can expect to return to work and other obligations in about one week. Exercise and other strenuous activities can be resumed in three to six weeks, while optimal results of surgery can be seen two to three months after surgery.
